Who I am
I AM I Counselling is a private counselling practice run by Aga. I am the data controller for any personal information you share with me through this website, by email, by phone or in sessions.
What I collect
When you contact me I collect your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell me about why you are getting in touch. If we work together I keep brief session notes and basic contact and emergency details. This website uses only the cookies needed to make it work.
How I use it
To reply to your enquiry, arrange sessions, keep the records my professional body and insurer require, and meet my legal obligations. I do not sell your information, and I do not use it for marketing unless you have asked to receive my newsletter.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to sessions are deleted within six months. Client records are kept securely for the period required by my insurer and then destroyed.
Confidentiality and its limits
What you bring to sessions is confidential. There are narrow exceptions, such as a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or where the law requires disclosure. I discuss my supervision arrangements and these limits with you at the start of our work, so there are no surprises.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it where I am not required to keep it. Write to me at hello@iamicounselling.com and I will respond within one month.
Contact and complaints
If something concerns you, please tell me first — most things are best resolved directly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
